Postby doitright » Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:33 pm

I hope this dose not offend anyone but here I go
I make beer bread it is great for stews

12" Do
spray oil in it
mix one bottle of dark beer and 3 cups of S R flour with three t s of sugar and a handfull of cheese. Cook for 20 min. 6 on bottom and 18 on top turn every 10 min.
This makes a great heavy bread that is good with stew.

I take it as Self Rising flour. Easy enough for me to try it. Now what dark beer do you use?

S R flour is self rising flour. You can use any beer but I like the heavy dark beer for the bread and bud to drink while I make the bread. Sam Adams is a strong beer I like. Most people call for a Lauger beer. It is a fast bread and takes longer to get the coles going than to make the bread.

Kevin,
Tried the bread last night with the Bean and Ham soup.
cudos, I likd it, very simple, but I think I will try it in a 10" next time. Couldn't get it to turn golden for me.
I used an AMber Bock beer. A little on the bitter side, will try a different beer next time. I have to replenish often, so it is no big deal.

This sounds very interesting. I might make it our next time out. Or, in the DO at home in the oven
