Brianna Update Take Two....

Postby Lee In Tennessee » Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:02 pm

Well Brianna did not make it into the TBI program at the TRC. They said the classroom setting is not a good fit for her. They believe she is a hands on learner. They are going to see if she can get into J.O.B.S. this is a program which provides instruction and helps develop basic work habits and behaviors that are necessary to learn before you can get a job or enter other training programs within the TRC. Needless to say this was not a good visit for Bree (or us). If JOBS doesn't work then we are not sure what will happen. We have to find something for Brianna she just can not continue living with us. She is only 24 and has her whole life ahead of her.

Shelia added this to our Blog and I just copied and pasted it here.

Sorry for Breezy, it makes it tough for her. She can do it I have confidence in her. If she has learned computer and games, that is an awful lot like life. The want and desire has to be nurtured. Come on Breezy you can make it.

Lee - y'll hang in there. God doesn't close a door without opening a window. Give Breezy a hug for us.

With her warm outgoing personality, I hope they can help her find a job that involves dealing with people. She is so easy to talk with.

She is still there and we are working on a few things. Her problem is she does not see the whole picture for the future and we are all having a hard time getting her to understand.... She is interviewing for Food Services tomorrow (where her supposedly love of her life) is working also. We (and her case manager) would like her to go into the JOBS program. The JOBS program trains her how to and what to expect in a real job situation. We have a meeting Monday to see what direction she will go....

She is coming home this weekend and all weekends for awhile. We think we may have giving her to much freedom to fast....

Lee, what is to much freedom to fast?? she is 24 years old and I know people who have gone through the JOBS program and are successful, I'm sure this will be a good fit for her if she wants it... and that's where it gets tough planning for 5 years down the road when you only see today & tomorrow... but she can do it!! I know she can don't beat yourself up or Bree for that matter like everyone says it will work out if not this then there's something else out there!!!

Sorry she didn't get in the program you wanted for her, Lee. But, that must mean there is something out there better suited for her. It sounds like motivation might be part of the problem and that sounds like a typical kid when they transition to adulthood. I feel for you guys and will keep you in prayers.

Brianna (worked) the food service program today and tomorrow she will go back to the TBI unit. Monday she is going to the JOBS program. They are trying to find something for her.

Right now she is hurting (she has what we would refer to as Jock Itch and it is a sever case from what we are being told) we think it is caused by a combination of her gate (the way she walks) and not drying properly. She will be coming home this weekend to not only heal but for us to try and talk to her about the opportunity.

As we all know she is very social (as we all know) and being she was stuck with her parents for a long time. Now she is with her peers she went over board with them and got distracted from the purpose of the TRC....

I hope you all can read between the lines and understand where Shelia and I are with this situation....

Sorry to hear. As another said, God will open another door.

For her medical issue, try some hydrocortisone cream for relief. Get 1%, as I think that is the strongest available OTC. There are some 0.5%, but use 1%.

We took Brianna to our doctor yesterday and he could not believe what a mess she was. He changed up some of her meds. He took her off the Nystatin and replaced it with Clotrimazole an antifungal cream and gave her Fluconazole for the yeast infection. He was surprised they had not given her anything for the yeast infection orally. He is keeping her on the Cephalexin unless the urine sample shows infection. He said it looks like she has been scolded and she has three spots where the infection has gone into her flesh like bed sores. Those are the ones he is concerned about. I need to say it is looking SO much better now that we have kept her in a gown to where it can dry up. She has another appointment with our doctor on Monday for him to see how it is healing. He told her this could take a couple of weeks before she will be back in jeans again.

I'm so sorry to hear that I can't imagine how painful that is for her.. I'm surprised that TRC didn't help her with that also, if they knew about it she may not have told them?? I'm hoping..... But glad she's on the right track is she at TRC now??

No Yvonne Brianna is not at the TRC she is home for awhile and knowing her she didn't say anything to them. When she got in the truck she started crying right away and we ask her if it hurt and she said yes. Apparently she was holding it in and let it go as soon as she got with us.
