Campgrounds in Florida?

Postby ces18 » Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:49 pm

It looks like we might have a week of vacation at the end of March and we're toying with the idea of grabbing the camper and heading down to Florida. Some friends of ours told us about a state park near Pensacola they really like. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with camping in Florida and maybe you could share some info. I wonder how cold it would be then? We might have to go further south if we don't want to freeze our tushes off.

Thanks!

Last year we went to Navarre Beach (near Pensacola) in April and it was nice...but the water is still a little chilly.....We love Navarre Beach...it is private,,,,I think there is a campground in Navarre on the bay side....

Gulf Shores, Alabama is just a few miles west of Pensacola, and is a State camp ground. The beach is within bicycle distance of park. They have, or had a small zoo, golf course, and of course all the other tourist attractions.
Definetly check out the aviation museum at Pensacola Air base. It is quite interesting.

We used to go to Gulf Shores every year...it has more to do there for the kids than Navarre...I think the Navarre, Destin area is prettier...there's lots to do in Destin....but I do love Gulf Shores too...

Oh yeah, at that time of the year your biggest bother will be the "Snow Birds". They are very cranky and intolerant of slum lord travel trailers invading their territory.
