On a rather cool Saturday in August at Lock A COE campground, several women friends were sitting around watching the Cumberland River float by, when Kim/ Little Dutch shared with them that her husband Steve/ Camp was thinking about starting up a camping club that was family-friendly and focused on camping in middle TN.
They were all excited to hear this and decided this must happen. After all, Steve / Camp had already gone to the trouble of naming the group and creating a web site for it.
That decision was followed by several hours of scheming by the ladies on what needed to be added to the logo Camp had already designed. It was deemed that CampTN’s logo needed a raccoon mascot, a Dutch oven, three stars from the state flag and a campfire.
Camp was filled in on this news when he returned from chatting with the men in the group. Later that night the group decided when and where the next campout would be.
And that is how CampTN was formed (At least as best as Little Dutch can remember
Folks that were there - Camp, Little Dutch, Nissan Tech, Mrs. Nissan Tech,
Lil' House, Cyclone, Titansfan, Fliptop, Bobkat, Bobkat Mama and Jake (Nissan Techs' son)
