New Job for John

Postby johnandangela » Thu Oct 08, 2009 11:31 pm

Friends, thanks for all the prayers on John's behalf in regards to his job situation. He did not get the first shift job, but he did get a 3rd shift job. It is Monday - Friday 11p to 7a. Although this is not ideal, it is better than nights on the weekends. There is a possiblity this will turn into Sunday - Thursday, which would allow him to camp with us more, since he would get off 7 am Friday mornings and not be back at work until 11PM Sunday nights. We will hope for that. His boss has about 90 days before he has to be released to his new job, but we are hoping for a quicker transition. Things are definitely looking up.
Thanks again for all your prayers.

Good for you guys! I hope this schedule is better for John. Working 3rd shift is hard, Jorge has been doing it for 11 years now. I hope he can come camping with you guys some! Would love to meet him.

Congrats to John....I think.

3rd shift is hard, but doable. Try not to let them shift him around to other shifts, until he goes to another shift permanently. Swinging from one shift to another is what makes it harder.

Please be kind to him when he's trying to sleep. Remember, he's been up all night.

I found it easier to just sleep when I was sleepy, and do "daytime" things (vacuum, cook, wash clothes, buy groceries, etc.) whenever I was awake, be that 2am, 11pm, or noon. I just slept when I was sleepy. Of course, that was much easier because I lived alone, no wife or kids.

We found out yesterday that he got the Sunday through Thursday job. This is great news. This means he goes on at 11PM on Sunday and he gets off at 7AM on Fridays. This will allow him to camp with us. He has about 6 weeks to finish out where he is. and train his replacement.

You'll get used to that and those hours are great because he can sleep during the day when yall are gone then when you come home he's up and you have all evening together it really works well for us this way, of course I think we'd both be excited if Gus got on dayshift he has been offered it before but turned it down because he doesn't want to arrive at the campground late in the evenings... but I do believe if they offered it again he would take it!! But Angela you'll be surprised how well this can work for you!!
